Acompanhando o blog da Liberty & Co. de Londres, achei uma entrevista com a chefe de identidade visual da loja (que é uma Bergdorf & Goodman da Inglaterra), Maxine Groucutt. Ela é responsável pelas vitrines, encartes e visual merchandising da loja (outro emprego dos sonhos)
Fala moça!
"I can’t say that I have ever had a typical day in my career!"
8am: I start my day with the crutch of an Earl Grey tea and I work through my emails. I usually walk the floors in the mornings to get to grips with changes and new products…oh and a little shopping too!
9am: Today I had a breakfast meeting with stylist Faye Toogood to discuss 2011 design week, windows and her new furniture line. I love spending time with fellow creatives and I feel a sense of release after our brainstorm.
10am: Back to the shop for a meeting with the merchandising team to discuss option capacity for the new stationery room. This grounds me and puts my retail head back on for the day.
11am: I work on the mood board for the SS11 visual scheme, catch up with my team and get to grips with the emails that keep flying in. There are lots of emails over the return of the Liberty fabric frog who’s making his debut this Christmas…I can’t wait.
12pm: I can’t eat lunch as I am so nervous about my budget meeting at 2pm, I’m prepared so it goes well and everyone is pleased.
3pm: I have a meeting to catch up on the refit for our new Christmas chocolate shop Cocamaya, everyone loves the colours and the window vinyl ideas so I brief this in.
4pm: Manolo Blahnik arrives for a book signing event and I pop down to discuss the window concepts with him in our Style Service suite. We chat excitedly about ideas and he tells me about stories of his childhood Christmases. We are continually interrupted by excited staff who want to meet him (he is so gracious and talks to everyone) but we manage to get a design sketched out….he signs his name on our naive sketch and then laughs.
6pm: I prepare a presentation for the following day and then sink into the luxury of my book on the tube home knowing that tomorrow will be totally different!
More about Maxine:
- I studied Costume design for stage and screen and fell into fashion retail after college. I worked my way up to management all the while craving to be more creative. I took a side step into visual merchandising and the rest is history.
- I love working for Liberty because of the people who work here and the passion they have for the business.
- I’m excited about our new men’s denim department on the lower ground floor. We restored all the heritage wood in the room and this acts as a beautiful back drop to individual brands. Each brand we cultured to bring their identity into Liberty without creating shop fits.
